I. Program Status

Q1. Is this program still ongoing? Until when will it be implemented?

The program is currently ongoing.

The application deadline is expected to be April 20, 2026.

All subsequent application procedures will be announced through official notices.
This is a one-year program.

All exchange activities must be completed within the year 2026 (please refer to Question 15 for the schedule).

Awarded students are also required to submit their return report and complete all required closing procedures by December 31, 2026 the latest.


II. Eligible Fields and Requirements

Q2. Are semiconductor or electronic engineering fields eligible?

According to the official guidelines, eligible fields currently include:

  1. Basic Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, etc.)

  2. Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, Architecture and Design, and Sustainable Development

Electronic engineering and semiconductor-related fields are not included in this funding cycle.


Q3. Can students who are already abroad apply? 

Yes, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.

However, this scholarship does not apply to students in general exchange programs or dual-degree programs.

If traveling from a third country to Belgium or the Netherlands, applicants must provide an estimated airfare budget for review.


Q4. Can applicants receive other government or international funding simultaneously?

Currently, there are no conflict clauses or restrictions regarding receiving other scholarships or funding simultaneously.


Q5. I am a senior undergraduate student about to graduate. Am I eligible to apply?

Applicants may still apply if:
1. They have confirmed enrollment in a graduate program beginning in 2026 after graduation; and

2. The host university is one of the 16 partner universities in Taiwan supported by this program.
If certain identity or enrollment documents are not yet available at the time of application, the application may be conditionally approved. Applicants must submit the required documents within the designated deadline.
Applicants are advised to provide all currently available documents.
If documents remain incomplete after the deadline, further handling measures will be reviewed separately. Applications will still be evaluated based on proposal content and overall completeness of submitted materials.


Q6.   If I graduate before the exchange period, can I still apply?

No. Applicants must maintain student status at one of the 16 designated partner universities during the exchange period.

If the applicant has already graduated before or during the exchange period, they are not eligible to apply.


Q7.  I am currently enrolled in a five-year junior college program. Am I eligible?

According to the program guidelines, eligible applicants include:
•    Undergraduate students
•    Master’s students
•    Doctoral students

Students enrolled in five-year junior college programs are currently not eligible for this program.


Q8. Will all eligible applicants receive funding? Is there a quota limit?

This program does not set a quota limit for each university.

All applicants who meet the eligibility requirements are welcome to apply.

However, the number of grants awarded and the final approval results are subject to the overall review outcome, and funding is not guaranteed for all applicants.
The selection committee will conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on the number of applications received, the completeness of application materials, the quality of the proposal, and its feasibility.
Therefore, the final list of awardees will be determined based on the final review results.


Q9. Will funding be disbursed only after completing the short-term program? (For Taiwan students)

After the award list is confirmed, 70% of the total scholarship amount will be disbursed prior to departure for the exchange.
The remaining balance will be disbursed after the recipient returns to Taiwan, submits a reflection report, and completes the required project close-out procedures in coordination with the Program Office.


Q10. Is the funding reimbursement-based, or is the approved amount granted directly?

This program provides funding in the form of a scholarship and is not a full reimbursement scheme.
The actual awarded amount will be determined by the review committee.
 


III. Application Procedure

Q11. What is the application procedure? What does the host institution consent letter mean?

Applicants must complete the application form and submit all required documents in accordance with the official guidelines.

The host institution consent letter refers to the internship or research acceptance/invitation letter issued by the host institution.

Q13. What are the proposal requirements? 

There is no fixed format for the research proposal; however, it must comply with the application form requirements. The proposal should include:

Research objectives

Significance of the research

Relevance to the applicant’s field of study

The proposal should be limited to one A4 page, highlighting key points to facilitate the review process.


Q14. Can I apply if my documents are not yet complete?

Yes. This program provides a “conditional approval” mechanism.

Applicants may submit their application even if some documents are incomplete.

If the application is approved, the required documents must be submitted within the specified deadline; otherwise, the application will be considered withdrawn.


IV. Program Timeline

Q15. What is the scholarship timeline? Who is eligible?

Tentative timeline:

  • March–April: Online application

  • May: Review and announcement of results

  • June–December: Exchange period

Awarded students must submit a final report and cooperate with the project closeout procedures within one month after returning.

Students who conduct their exchange during the June–December period and meet eligibility requirements may apply.


V. Additional Information

Q16. Is there an English proficiency requirement?

There is no specific English proficiency requirement. However, academic communication is generally conducted in English and/or Mandarin in Taiwan. Applicants are encouraged to possess sufficient communication skills.


Q17. Is it necessary to independently select a host institution and contact the overseas university or supervisor?

Yes. Applicants are required to independently contact and apply to their host institution, supervisor, or internship organization. This office does not designate or recommend any specific institutions.


Q18. How is accommodation arranged?

Accommodation arrangements are usually handled by the host university or program. Policies may vary by institution.


Q19. How is the application reviewed? Is an interview required?

This program is reviewed based on written documents, and no interview will be conducted. Applications will be evaluated comprehensively based on the number of applications received, the completeness of the submitted materials, and the quality and feasibility of the proposed plan.


Q20. What should be noted before applying?

Applicants are advised to carefully evaluate their course arrangements, expected expenses, and application risks prior to submitting their application, in order to ensure the overall feasibility of their plan.
